Akzo Nobel MPP Systems®, of Arnhem, Netherlands, has supplied a purification unit to Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM). The unit is being used to remove dissolved hydrocarbons from offshore-produced water on a gas platform in the North Sea. During the production and treatment of natural gas, the water used is cleaned and discharged to sea. Although there are currently no legal limits for dissolved hydrocarbons, NAM is continually striving to further improve its environmental performance.
