US EPA recently released its Contaminant Candidate List (CCL), which is used to continue collecting data and encouraging research on selected contaminants to understand the health effects and to what level the contaminants are present in drinking water. The agency can also make regulatory determinations (MCL or treatment technique) for contaminants on this list. The new list differs from the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Report (UCMR), which simply collects occurrence data. For more information on the regulatory determination process for the CCL, visit the website, https://www.epa.gov/ccl/basic-information-ccl-and-regulatory-determination.
