The International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) reported passage of the fiscal year (FY) 2017 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill (HR 5538), which contains a provision that prevents the National Park Service from using federal money to implement a policy that allows individual national parks to ban the sale of bottled water. IBWA also applauds the US Senate Appropriations Committee for recognizing the need to end this deeply flawed policy. Research has shown that when bottled water isn’t available, 63 percent of people will choose soda or another sugary drink, not tap water.
