Results of Round I of the WHO International Scheme to Evaluate Household Water Treatment Technologies have just been released. The Round I Report is the first ever global assessment of household water treatment (HWT) technologies based on WHO performance recommendations.
The report summarizes the performance of 10 HWT technologies, including solar, chemical, filtration and (UV). It details that there are both high performing and poor performing products and that more needs to be done to strengthen national regulation and evaluation of HWT alongside effective implementation.
